Jean-Pierre De Grève, born in 1949, graduated as a Civil Engineer in Chemistry at the University of Brussels in 1972 and in Safety and Hygiene in 1981. 


In his early career, he worked as a lecturer in Chemical Engineering and Chemical Technology at the University of Algiers before moving into mainstream industrial chemistry. He formerly worked within Solvay in production, construction, waste management and safety and environmental arenas. He was also the chairman of BelgoChlor, the association of Belgian chlorine producers, between 1993 and 1997.


In January 1998, he joined European Council of Vinyl Manufacturers as Technical and Environmental Affairs Manager and was appointed Executive Director in September 1999. In parallel, he became General Manager of Vinyl 2010 the following year and member of the board of Vinyl 2010, the legal body in charge of the implementation of the Voluntary Commitment of the European PVC industry. Jean-Pierre has been chairing the GVC (Global Vinyl Council) from 2001 to October 2003, and also from 2005 – 2009.


In March 2009, he became Deputy Executive Director of PlasticsEurope, in charge of Communications and Advocacy. 


As part of his professional activities between 1998 and 2012, Jean-Pierre developed a lot of activities and contacts with the European Union Institutions ( Commission ,Parliament and Council ).


In March 2012 Jean-Pierre set up his own business. He works now as a consultant for companies and associations, and provides services related to industrial strategy, advocacy and communications, and all activities related to the European Institutions.
